“As the track began to come together, it quickly became apparent that this was a Wax & Herbal T situation.” explains Adam. “The instrumental had ticked all the creative boxes for me - it was hitting hard, getting the feet moving and doing the business, but I just couldn't think of a hook. I sent it over to the brothers and they quickly obliged with gusto, also chucking in a verse each for good measure. We were now cooking with gas - a few sprinkles of fairy dust later and it was done…”
A colossus of the funk & soul world, Adam Gibbons (aka Lack of Afro) has been putting out music for over 15 years now. During his recent two year hiatus from releasing new music as Lack of Afro, he re-issued his much loved debut LP ‘Press On’ on vinyl, immediately selling out the first run. He also released an album under his own name Adam Gibbons, one under the LUSTRE moniker and an EP as The Damn Straights along with longtime collaborator and emcee Herbal T. He accepted an invitation to record at FAME Studios in Muscle Shoals back in February and his since been busy in the studio working on more music for 2023.
